CBORD Announces Release of Odyssey for Oracle
For Immediate Release
October 21, 2004
Ithaca, New York—The CBORD Group, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of campus card, housing, and foodservice management systems for the College & University market, announces the release of Odyssey Version 3 designed to support Oracle. CBORD’s Odyssey software is an enterprise solution for campus life and includes Privilege Control Systems (PCS), Housing Management Systems (HMS), and Judicial applications.
Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, implemented Odyssey PCS for Oracle on its campus in October 2004. The release of Odyssey for Oracle is evidence of CBORD’s commitment to institutions like Yale that have made significant capital and personnel investments with Oracle. "Odyssey for Oracle is designed for customer sites that have standardized on the Oracle database platform across their enterprise. This version of Odyssey will allow those customers to leverage their investment for an additional administrative application," says Will McCarthy, Vice President, CBORD Transaction Processing Systems Division. Clint Westgard, ITS Manager at Yale University, echoed this sentiment when he stated, "It was important to Yale that CBORD’s product would integrate with the Oracle platform in order to utilize IT resources currently available at the University. It was more of a plug-in to our existing Oracle infrastructure."
CBORD’s Odyssey for Oracle is well suited for Odyssey PCS and HMS applications and, in addition to the installation at Yale, is currently in beta testing at Indiana University. With the Beta running well, Indiana University will soon have the full version operational. Ranji Abraham, Executive Director of Technology Auxiliary Services and Programs, said they are "in the process of implementing both HMS and PCS for Oracle. We’re very excited to be moving to a shared database for these two important administrative applications. This will not only allow us to change meal plan contracts through our housing system and have them apply immediately to our card system, but Odyssey HMS’s new web capabilities will also give Indiana University the ability to create web pages for our housing application process through parameter settings and a few plug-in scripts."
